Public Health Emergency Preparedness
Public health emergencies happen swiftly and unexpectedly. Dawson County Health Department maintains plans to prevent and mitigate disasters such as communicable disease outbreaks, food and water contaminations, malicious attacks, severe weather, and situations that require medical countermeasures.
Working with local emergency planning committee (LEPC) members, Dawson County Health Department performs exercises and trains to respond to emergencies or disasters in the most efficient manner possible to protect the county’s residents.What Public Health Incidents Should be Reported Immediately?
A hazardous materials incident

Compromised public or private drinking water supplies

Sewage release illnesses or foodborne illnesses

A communicable disease outbreak
