What we do:
The Dawson County Human Resources Department covers a wide variety of responsibilities. There are administrative duties, such as keeping accurate records of what the County is doing and what the employees are doing. There are training and development activities, such as workshops and continuing education for workers. There are issues with benefits, such as researching and implementing employee insurance and retirement plans. And there are legal issues, such as ensuring that the County is complying with all employment, safety and health laws.
How we do it:
The Human Resources Department assists in the effective and efficient utilization of employee resources by assisting in the areas of planning, recruitment, training, development and employee relations. The Department also provides assistance with compensation, classification, collective bargaining and benefits. Additionally, the Department ensures that all these services are provided in a legal and ethical manner.

The Department performs these functions to ensure the fair management and treatment of employees, and to ensure that County employees are well-trained, sufficiently supported and appropriately assigned job duties that accomplish the County’s goals in a cost-effective, efficient and safe manner.
