The Dawson County Attorney is an elected position of four years, and is now a full time position due to the growing population within Dawson County. The Dawson County Attorney's Office serves the interest of the public by representing Dawson County and the State of Montana.
The County Attorney represents and advises Dawson County, and the offices and departments within, in any and all county legal business.
The County Attorney represents the State of Montana and works closely with all local law enforcement in criminal prosecutions in the Dawson County Justice Court, the Montana Seventh Judicial District Court, and the Montana Seventh Judicial District Youth Court. She also represents the State of Montana and provides services in civil cases such as mental commitment, dependant neglect, and guardianship cases.
The full time County Attorney is prohibited by law in engaging in private practice law as well as giving legal advice to the general public.
