  The general duties of the Dawson County Commissioners are to oversee the health, welfare and safety of the residents of the county, to supervise the official conduct of all county officers and employees, and to oversee the setting and implementation of budgets and other moneys. There are many other duties involved in the day-to-day operation of county government such as enforcing laws mandated by the state legislature, conducting public hearings, and addressing problems and concerns of county residents.

 


    The current Dawson County Commissioners are:
District 1 Commissioner is Jim (Skilly) Skillestad.  Skilly was born and raised in Dawson County where he has farmed and ranched for over 30 years.  He is active in the community and serves on his church board.  Jim and his wife Pat spend most of their time doing their God given duty of spoiling their Grandkids!!
 

 

Adam J. Gartner was raised and educated in Glendive.  He worked for the Postal Service for thirty plus years retiring in 2003.  He was elected as Dawson County District 2 Commissioner in 2004.

 

 

 

Doug Buxbaum  was raised and educated in Dawson County.  He is married with three sons.  He served an extended tour in Vietnam during 1970-71 and is currently engaged in farming and a feedlot operation with two of his sons.
