Dear 4-H'ers, leaders and
parents,
WORK DAYS AT 4-H BUILDING, MAY 28 & 29
We are putting up some tin siding and fixing soffits at the 4-H building
on May 28 and 29 at 6:00 pm. We would appreciate adult help to get this job
done. The fair board is supplying the tin and our building will look like
theirs, and no more painting–hurray! Thurs is a horse meeting and some of
you will be there anyway, so bring along extra help and send them over to
the 4-H building to help. Bring your cordless drills, hammers, skill saws,
crow bars, and saw horses. Bruce will bring step ladders and the 4-H Council
will furnish supper and refreshments. Please call us at at 377-4277 or email
us at dawson1@montana.edu and let
us know if you are able to help.
ADD\DROP PROJECTS, JUNE 1
June 1 is the last day to add or drop projects. If you have not
completed anything in a project, you may want to drop it for this year and
consider taking it again another time. A list of your projects is enclosed.
June 1 is also the day you must own your market lamb or market pig, goats,
orphans, and all small animals ( Cat, dog, rabbit, poultry, etc) If you did
not get an animal by this date, call the office and drop it off your list of
projects. No animal can be shown at the fair unless it is owned by June 1.
June 3, PIG & LAMB WEIGH IN, Fairgrounds 5:00- 7:00 pm
Weigh in for your market lamb and market pig project will be held
Tuesday, June 3 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the fairgrounds. The livestock policy
states that all market animals must be weighed in and identified, at a
central location on a designated day if they are to be in the rate of gain
contest. If the animals are not weighed on the same scale, on the same day,
the animal cannot be considered for the rate of gain contest, they can
however be exhibited at the fair, but will not participate in this contest.
There will be a livestock committee meeting June 4 at 7:30 pm at the
Courthouse Community Room.
Dog & Cat Members
A couple weeks ago you should have received a vaccination certificate
that you need to complete and return back to the Extension Office by June 14
or you will not be allowed to exhibit at the fair. If you need a copy of the
new rules and regulations that were implemented last year, please stop by
the office to pick one up.
June 10 - 4-H Miss Montana Day
4-H has been asked to help with the Miss Montana pageant. Our day is
Tuesday, June 10 where we will be serving lunch to the contestants. The day
will start at 8:00 am and we will be making decorations, making lunch and
getting lessons on how to serve and set the tables. If any members would
like to help, please call the office at 377-4277 and we will put you on the
list. Sounds like a fun, exciting day. This is also camp week, but hopefully
we can get at least 7 kids to help with Miss Montana.
Horse kids -remember your horse ID card is due June 1 to the office or you
cannot show at the fair. Enclosed is one for you if needed.
4-H Congress, July 8-11
4-H Congress applications are due by June 1 along with a $50 deposit.
The applications were mailed last week for those 14 years and older along
with information about Congress. More information can be found on the 4-H
web site at www.montana4h.org. Click on the 4-H center tab, click on events
& awards, click on MT events. The congress info is on the bottom of the list
and you can look at the guidelines and the registration book also.
